Paintings in the Living Room

Living room and paintings (Vardagsrum och tavlor) are two words that fit like a glove. A living room is simply not complete without paintings on the wall (tavlor på väggen). A big dilemma, however, is which paintings fit in which rooms. Unlike tables, chairs, rugs, etc. where the selection is something you can have some control over, it is almost infinitely large when it comes to paintings (tavlor), pictures (bilder), posters (affischer) and what else you can hang on the walls. There is an empire with different styles - everything from abstract and colorful paintings (abstrakta och färgrika tavlor), to extremely detailed portraits and minimalist posters. Finding the right motif can therefore be very difficult - and it is not made easier by the fact that it is usually two or more people who have to agree on the choice of the painting in the living room (tavlan i vardagsrummet).

Having art (konst), whether it is paintings (tavlor) or posters (affischer) in your interior, however, is essential if you want a perfect interior. To imagine a living room without paintings or pictures (tavlor eller bilder) is almost unthinkable. It belongs to the room in exactly the same way as a sofa and a coffee table do.

How do paintings affect us as human beings?

The consensus is that art (konst) - paintings included - affects us humans psychologically in some way. In i.a. In psychiatry, it is common knowledge that paintings can, among other things, calm patients down if they are stressed.

The same is also seen with patients in hospitals, at the doctor or dentist. Imagine that you are going to be examined by one of the above and you are lying on a couch waiting for an examination. You look around the room and see all the sterile appliances, all the electronics on the walls and the ceiling. If the walls were decorated with paintings or other art (dekorerade med tavlor eller annan konst), this will often at least take some focus away from the stressful situation you are in. Especially paintings with exciting motifs or a unique and abstract (abstrakt) expression that can make the thoughts fly away and forget that you are at the doctor's.

In most of the above places you are well aware of the good influence of art and if you think back to your last visit to the doctor or the hospital, you may also remember that one or more paintings have hung on the walls (tavlor har hängt på väggarna).

Where do you best place your art at home?

Yes, how to place your art? When you have bought a painting for the home, you may have initially thought a bit about where the painting should hang (var tavlan ska hänga) - or maybe you have not. Maybe you decided to buy your new painting (köpte din nya tavla) just because it was incredibly beautiful. If this is the time, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

=> Place the board at eye level if possible. In the ordinary home, a height of 180-185cm is best.

=> You can hang several paintings (flera tavlor) on the same wall. However, consider that either the height or the bottom of the paintings match, otherwise it looks sloppy. The fact that the paintings do not have the same individual sizes is not a problem. However, you should place the largest board in the center.

=> Look at the colors in the room. Does the room smell of many different colors or is it characterized by a certain color? In a room with many colors, it is natural to either match the colors or to choose a painting with muted and earthy colors so as not to create too strong contrasts. If, on the other hand, the room is characterized by quite a few colors, a painting with strong colors (tavla med kraftiga färger) can create a fantastic atmosphere in the room.

=> Feel free to hang many paintings in one room (många tavlor i ett rum). A rule of thumb is that up to 1/3 of the walls can be covered with art.

=> Replace your artwork (konstverk) occasionally. You can always change your paintings from time to time. It's actually amazing what this simple trick can do. Your rooms may suddenly take on a whole new look for both yourself and your guests.

=> Think of daylight and lighting from lamps (belysning från lampor). A painting (tavla) can express itself in different ways depending on the kind of light that illuminates it. A good idea is to put the board in a place where daylight falls in, while it can be illuminated by lights in the evening. In this way, the painting gets a special expression during the day and another in the evening when darkness falls.

=> Think about where you naturally look in a room. It is in those places that you should decorate the walls (utsmycka väggarna).

Remember that you can always find a large selection of paintings for the living room, the bedroom and all the other rooms. Whether you are looking for colorful paintings (färgrika tavlor), large paintings (stora tavlor) or something completely third, you can certainly find it on lexandecor.se.
